October Twenty-Nineteen

       October 2019
"O God, who created all people in your image....

We give you thanks for the diversity
of races and cultures in this world...

,and for the ways in which that beauty can be seen
here in our neighborhoods...

Enrich our lives, we pray,
By ever-widening circles of fellowship,

 and show us your presence
in those who differ most from us,

until our knowledge of your love is made perfect
in our love for all Your children.

Look with compassion, we pray, on all of us who are
bound together in the common life of this neighborhood.

Grant that your holy and life-giving spirit
may so move our hearts

that the barriers that divide us may crumble...

 and
that we may live together in love....
(The Book of Common Prayer)

claim to fame

A co-worker of mine sent me this screenshot of a post on Instagram from the Ballard Food Bank promoting the Seattle Turkey Trot.... She laughed when she recognized the person behind the table and because she is the one who brought the paper mache food that was glued on my table to a white elephant gift exchange the year before that I won there that we eventually used to make this crazy costume.  Proud to have this as my claim to fame. :)

And along dress- up lines, here are some pictures of our placement team in my s'more costume for our Halloween email that our team is sending out to the School of Education tomorrow:

proud parents

Jason and I were so surprised to find this note left for us on our doorstep last Saturday from Jaclyn, Anna and Taylor's boss at Fat Ducks. We both got a little misty eyed reading it and are so proud of our two....

23 +1

Happy 23rd (plus one day) to Taylor....
I'm thankful for an excuse for a date with this boy.
so funny that the bag says "Revel in the Unexpected" --
not sure why this is the tagline on my burrito bag....

Sketch book

I don't always get to see what the kids are working on in school, but Taylor showed me this drawing from his engineering sketch book.  I need him to give me some lessons!!!

Halloween is just around the corner

With Halloween just around the corner,
there's nothing like pulling out some old photos to reminisce....

Thanks to Abba for transferring these photos from slides to digital!

This might not have been Halloween-- it could have just been a normal bedtime. :)

Mini reunion

Such fun that Terry Taylor was in town for a conference so we had an excuse for mini reunion and dinner party last night....

Here's a picture of Terry a few years ago in 1995 at our wedding...:)

Pike Place Night Out

We heard about a fun improv night called Campfire (Improvised Ghost Stories) at Unexpected Productions (the improv theater on Post Alley near the gum wall).  Taylor and Anna each brought some friends and we all had a fun time heading downtown last night to see a show together.

Autumn Glory

Autumn is sehnsucht in seasonal form. It aches deeper than mere nostalgia and yearns sharper than mere desire. It remembers all that we’ve lost and hunts for what we may harvest next. On the surface, Autumn may seem a melancholy character, yet just underneath its layer of fallen leaves is a well of hope that will never be quenched. -Chris Thiessen
