July Twenty-Twenty

Breathe in the breath of God; breathe out your cares and concerns.
Breathe in the love of God; breathe out your doubts and despairs.
Breathe in the life of God; breathe our your fears and frustrations.
Breathe in the breath of God; breathe out your tensions and turmoil.
Breathe in the love of God; breathe out your haste and hurry.
Breathe in the life of God; breathe out your work and worry.
-Christine Sine

"Uncertainty is no reason to stop adding to the beauty of the world. We don’t know what’s coming. Write songs anyway. Make pies. Plant gardens. Why? First of all, you might be in Babylon for longer than you think. Second of all, gardens are beautiful. And beauty is one of the best ways to fight the darkness. I love Skye’s song “Sandcastles,” because it’s a reminder to get busy, to “color the world in your own little way,” because the love that lives in beauty lasts forever. It is unshakable. So step out into the world and plant whatever garden God has called you to plant. Pull the weeds of injustice and evil. Plant so much beauty that it chokes out the poison."

A Prayer For Uncertain Times
God of infinite mercy, hear our prayer.....
In this time of bewilderment and fear, we ask you to give us the courage to take care of one another as Jesus did. For those who are ill, especially those who are frightened and alone, for those who cannot access healthcare, for those who are homeless and lost, hear our prayer.....
In the midst of our sadness and grief, we ask you to give us words to comfort one another. For those who are dying, and for those who have already died from this virus, for those who tend them and for those with no one to tend them, hear our prayer....
n the midst of our struggle to ensure a healthy future for all who live on this planet, we ask you to give us the hope that surpasses our current understanding. For healthcare workers, spiritual leaders and our faith communities, for artists and poets, for prophets and teachers, hear our prayer.....
We trust in you and your power working in us. Please hear and answer our prayers.

In our restoration,
we cease being the experts,
the professionals, the ordained,
so that we might begin again with God.
We thought we had it all together,
but God smiles as we fall apart
into the wholeness
that heals us.
God's love is new every morning
as we begin again,
tasting it for the firs time.
The fragrance of God's presence
in the ebb and flow of our lives
on this canvas of life.
So as artists,
create with our Creator
in the vast choreography of God.
Such grace astounds us.

Fancy Cooking and Spa Night

Dani and Anna created a calendar for things they wanted to do before Dani moves back to Montana next week. For last night's special treat, they cooked up a storm in the kitchen with some amazing dishes from our favorite cookbook of late Two Peas and Their Pod, and then they set the stage for a spa night in the basement with lotion and face makes and body scrubs.

Dani and Anna researched Black owned businesses and ordered a few face masks and body scrubs to support them-- such a great idea for a fun spa night!

Taylor got in on the fun and gave me a hand massage.

Annual Edge reunion

I met these dear folks in 1995 when I had just graduated from college and came to Seattle to serve as an intern at the Edge at UPC. I'm so grateful for 25 years of friendship with these beautiful and beloved women!

Snack Time

Anna and I went on a long bike ride on Saturday afternoon to figure out her course for her half marathon that she is hoping to run at the end of the summer. We biked out on the Burke Gilman 13.1 miles, marked the spot on our maps, and then turned around and came back. We were so thankful for some blackberries along the way for snack time!
