Last night, we got a surprise call from Taylor that he was headed home to Seattle. He and Lucian were supposed to be heading out on a 3-day hike in Canada, but when they got to the trailhead, they had a forehead-slapping moment as they were unloading their gear and could not find Lucian's hiking boots. Lucian realized that he had put his hiking boots in a garbage bag (but some other friends mistakenly took them out to the trash with the other garbage bags while cleaning up!). So they decided to come to Seattle to regroup for the night before heading out on a hike from here.
That meant that today, they went on a hunt and found him some new boots on Facebook Marketplace for quite the screaming deal. And they happened to be in the SPU vicinity after I finished leading a meeting, and I was able to provide them with some pretty sweet leftovers for lunch. It absolutely made my day to see them, and I sure love getting to be home base for their adventures in the next few days!
