A pointe shoe is a type of shoe worn by ballet dancers when performing pointe work. Pointe shoes were conceived in response to the desire for dancers to appear weightless and sylph-like and have evolved to enable dancers to dance en pointe (on the tips of their toes) for extended periods of time. They are manufactured in a variety of colors, most commonly in shades of light pink. (from Wikipedia)
We got to go yesterday for Anna's first pointe shoe fitting. It was such a sweet rite of passage and I'm so grateful for her wonderful teacher who made it so special for the girls at the dance shop yesterday!
As we were there, it was sweet to see 3-4 year olds getting their first ballet or tap shoes looking up at these girls getting their first pointe shoes in awe. :)
video here of her trying on one pair
It felt like Cinderella as she kept trying on different pairs of ballet shoes
until they found just the right fit...
success! finding the Russian Pointe shoes as the perfect fit...
