When I picked up Taylor from camp, there was a final chapel time with some songs, a camp video and then a time when they put all the campers in the middle of the circle and the counselors and staff prayed for them that the seeds planted during camp would continue to grow. Such a gift!
Note: the guy in the red shorts above was Taylor's counselor named Ben who was "awesome" in Taylor's words. If you check out his hair, you might notice some patterns on his head. This guy went above and beyond the call of duty to help his cabin be fun. There was one camper named DJ in the cabin who was pretty homesick. Ben heard that one great way to help a camper who was feeling homesick was to let them cut his (the counselor's) hair. Talk about a great distraction! Ben gave DJ the clippers and he drew a smiley face on the back of his head with the design. Taylor said that it did the trick and that DJ had a great rest of the week.
So thankful for counselors like this who spend their summers pouring their lives (and sacrificing their hair) to make a difference in the lives of kids for the sake of the kingdom!
As if camp had not been unhealthy enough (I am not sure that Taylor saw one vegetable for the entire time he was there!), we stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home for a final hurrah!
