first successful dishwasher run last night- WHOOHOOOO!!!!!
certainly worth a happy dance in the kitchen today as our kitchen is slowly but steadily coming together. :)

I love your kitchen--I love how it is one of those places that is a gathering spot for people when they walk through the door. I love how there has always been something interesting there, whether it's a microscope, something delicious being cooked or baked, or a project like melted-crayon art. I also love that I know where the forks and the tea are, that you openly have people help themselves and help you as needed, creating comfort and creating invitation in that space.
I also love thinking about the history of your house and your kitchen--like the swinging door from the kitchen to the formal dining room...Perhaps a well-off family who lived there many many years ago had "staff" to cook dinners and thus the swinging door was in use often. Or the layers of flooring--who put those old layers in? Your house is truly a home, and your kitchen is most certainly the beating heart of it! Excited for the facelift that will make it good to go for the next many, many years for your family.
