One of the students on our team wrote this on her facebook post: "...even though I've left Kenya, the experience of Kenya hasn't left me." It is certainly my prayer that the experience of Kenya will not leave us for a long long time and that it will be a new reference point for our family for many years to come. As we have tried to catch up on sleep and to settle back into our home, we have certainly had tons of perspective in the last 36 hours since being here. Doing a few loads of laundry was a snap when not doing it by hand and scrubbing all the clothes 'til our knuckles were sore. Drinking water out of the water fountain at the airport or turning on water at our kitchen faucet brought a "thank you" to our lips as we did not have to filter the water or worry that we might get sick from drinking it. The luxury of a hot shower was a gift indeed when we got back home late on Saturday night. There are so many observations and reflections we need to continue to take time to let sink in as we adjust back here at home, but we are thankful to have the gift of family and friends who have welcomed us back and are eager to hear some of our stories as we process all that we saw and experienced.
