Taylor's Crossing

Taylor and I got up at the crack of dawn this morning at 5 am, and he boarded a plane by himself for Nashville for an adventure in the Smoky Mountains with Janie & Abba for the weekend.  Anna got to make this trip when she was 13 so now it's Taylor's turn since his birthday is less than two weeks away.

This 13th birthday bears significance, and we have called it his “Crossing”—a crossing over from being a child into this new stage of entering the teenage years.  It is also a time that we have gathered some friends and family to share words of affirmation and wisdom to mark this new chapter.  I sent Taylor on the plane today with a notebook tucked in his suitcase with 20 letters, and I've asked for Janie and Abba to read them to him at different points along the way when the time seems right over the weekend.  It is our prayer that God would open his ears that he could hear loud and clear that he is loved....

(Just for the record, Uncle Dan wrote to me that if Taylor makes the letter that he wrote to him into a paper airplane to please redistribute in his mid twenties. :)
