The mouse that is no longer in the house

Wednesday night last week, there was a knock on the door, and two of Anna's friends dropped by to show her and Taylor the new mouse they got at Petco that night (because they were bored and did not have anything to do- welcome to being a senior in high school during Covid-19.).  Anna and Taylor were delighted by "Stuart," and they got to hold her on the porch before her friends left.

Later that night, her friends told her that their parents said they could have the mouse so they let it go by Roosevelt High School.  At this point, Anna jumped into full rescue mode, and she and Taylor went to Roosevelt to see if they could find Stuart.  Lo and behold, the mouse had left the box where they had left it, but Stuart was not far and scampered towards them. So, she brought her home, and we have had a mouse living in a plastic spinach container in our bathroom for the last 5 days.
On New Year's Eve, as a funny prank, Jason staged an escape which made Anna look for Stuart all over the place for a few minutes while we were cooking dinner. Good father/daughter bonding.

Anna has taken good care of the mouse, but knew that we could not keep her. She called the animal shelter and was determined to find a home for her.  Tonight, her friends showed back up at the house to take her back because one of them convinced her mom to let her keep her. So- long story short, there is no longer a mouse in our house.
