Two and Three

Anna's two dances that she choreographed and performed were debuted during the Rite of Spring today with Dance Fremont, and I could not be more proud of her creativity and vision for these pieces.  As I was sharing about this senior project with a friend the other day, he very wisely noted that it was such a wonderful thing that she got to work on this as it was such an embodied project that she did in such a disembodied year.  She began working on these at the end of February, and she went each Wednesday to the studio to dance all by herself (which was such a different experience than being on Zoom and dancing in our living room).

She danced to the instrumental versions of the songs "Two" and "Three" by Sleeping at Last, and they were especially meaningful as she most identifies with these types on the Enneagram.  In "Three," the song is about being an achiever and the struggle to be enough, and her choreography was in essence a way to embrace all of herself with radical love.  In "Two," this song highlights those with personalities who love and serve others well, and she created different combinations that she embedded through the dance that honor the family and friends who have shaped her to be the person she is.

What a perfect capstone to her time at Dance Fremont and to the dancing she has done since she was three years old as these pieces capture the grace, beauty, and strength she has developed through dance through the years.

"Three" filmed at UW Campus at Sylvan Grove Theater:

"Two"- filmed at Magnuson Park on Kite Hill
