Yesterday, I went on a solo hike back to Mason Lake where Jason and I went last year to surprise Anna, Sarah, and Claire for Anna's 18th birthday. It was fun to go back to this trail and find another winter wonderland, but this time around, it was really wet with rain and slush as my companions along the way. Nevertheless, it was beautiful, and it was another fun way to celebrate Anna's upcoming birthday!
On my drive, I listened to this wonderful TED talk by Dr. Kent Hoffman and was struck with the profound messages delivered in a short time. The line "the gate of heaven is everywhere" he quoted from Thomas Merton was certainly easy to apply on this little adventure.
