This KUOW article explains a few things that have been absorbing so much time and energy for so many of us here in the SPU community:
“The end-of-the-quarter crunch is
looking a little different for some students at Seattle Pacific University. They're
juggling classes, homework, campus jobs... and now, a sit-in outside the
interim-president's office. Students organized the sit-in because of the board
of trustees' decision to reaffirm the school's employee lifestyle expectation
policy, which bans the hiring of LGBTQ employees.”
In light of how exhausting it’s
been on my end managing this news with our district partners as I am working to advocate for students, I was able to find some ways to bring a little bit of joy to the
students at the sit-in this week with bedtime stories and with a bunny!
