Catherine White and I had an epic time at the Dicksathon today—because honestly, what’s better than running a race dressed as a burger and fries?
This 14.7-mile adventure came with a tasty (and challenging) twist: downing fries, a burger, and a shake along the way. Needless to say, these are not my normal foods to consume on a run! (The marathon was beyond what we thought we could do.... while we could have run the miles, I am not sure we could have eaten the required fries, shake and three burgers along the way.)
This hilariously fun event raised money for WA Search and Rescue in honor of an amazing guy named Ian. See his story below... ❤️
It was everything I love rolled into one: costumes, running, a moving story, a worthy cause, a solid challenge, good time with a friend, and just the right amount of ridiculousness.
And here's the moving story about the event below:
at the start
with Ian's uncle who came all the way from England
on the Burke Gilman headed to our first stop for our fries
Fries at the Wallingford Dick's with 5 miles under our belt
gobbling down our burgers on Lake City Way after 11 miles of running
Maggie the golden retriever we met along the way who ran 5 miles for the Dicksathon!
solid finish!
