O God of all seasons, We thank You for the hope Ushered in by spring. After a long winter, We ache for the newness of life. We give thanks for the firstfruits Of a new season— The sprouts of green Pushing through the earth, Reminding us You were working all along, Even when things felt dark— Perhaps even dead. We thank You for the daylight returning And, with it, a renewed promise That we are never alone. Thank You for the return of robins That hop and frolic, Inviting us into playful Rhythms of grace. We see You in the spring showers And the mud puddles Made for tiny feet to jump in. We hear You in the trill of the bird’s song And the fragrant blooms of lilacs That seem to emerge overnight. After the austerity of winter Comes the jubilation of spring— Help us to remember that You care for the lily And the sparrow, And the depths of Your compassion Stretch deep around our family, too. Thank You for the invitation To quiet our souls during The season of Lent. Reveal in us Where we have lost our way So we may return every part Of our bodies and souls To You. Turn our mourning into dancing. Breathe in us new hope So we may offer that hope To the hurting people And places around us. Turn our grief into celebration. Help us to shed our winter skin And live into the newness of life You’ve called us to. As we plunge our hands into fresh dirt, We plant our summer hopes And know that You turn Seeds of faith Into something beautiful.
