Jason dreamed up this epic adventure last October when we drove Anna to Alaska after he searched for best hikes in the area around Anchorage. The Bomber Traverse came up, and I'll say it's definitely one of the most beautiful hikes in the world but also perhaps one of the hardest we've done as a family in terms of bushwhacking, route finding, bouldering, and scrambling. I am beyond grateful for the gift of these miles with these three. Here is a recap of day 1 from Reed Lake Trailhead to Snowbird Hut.
Tuesday start at the trailhead 12:59 pm
the first of many peaks over the next few days we would relish
Glacier Pass
heading down to cross the glacier
Snowbird Hut
this was our home for the evening--- with 4 women and their 5 dogs, and 3 other guys
(so a total of 11 of us and 5 furry friends in the cabin)
goodnight moon
