Evans was a part of the New Hope program (which was under Children of the Kingdom for a while as a ministry supporting street children in Lodwar back in 2008). His life journey has been one miracle after the next since those days when he was living on the streets in Lodwar, and he was able to finish primary and secondary school in Kenya through sponsorship. After a few other twists and turns, a door opened for him to come to community college in Vancouver, WA through the vision and support of Rachael and Joshua Swanson (former directors of New Hope) from 2018- 2020, and then he got a scholarship to WSU from 2020-2022. He will be starting at UW in a few weeks in the Evans School of Public Policy to get his masters. Rachael and Joshua reached out to me about ideas for housing, and I suggested the International House across the street. And they had room!! So now, Evans is our new neighbor and we get to be a part of his journey for the next couple of years here. So amazing!
Our neighbors Tom and Marisa invited us to a dinner Monday night to meet their Kenyan renters (Jerusha and Daniel), and they were so gracious to let us bring Evans since he had moved to the neighborhood that day. He loved meeting everyone and making some connections. What a wonderful welcome!

Such a small world--- they found out that they have shared friends in Kenya and now they just live one block away from each other here in Seattle!
