Jason and I got to go to Assisi today with Jeff and Peter for a visit to the Basilica at St. Francis. What a remarkable place (and what holy ground!).

Here is the chapel of Porziuncola that we got to visit today in Assisi. St. Francis received this small chapel in the early days of his ministry. In order to protect this ancient chapel, the giant church of Santa Maria degli Angeli was built like a shell.
