What a difference a year makes

We had Marian Tully over for dinner tonight, and it was a treat to not wear masks in the car and to give hugs now that all of us are vaccinated.

What a difference a year makes when we compare the picture we took when she first came to dinner in September (see below) to now (see above)!  Hooray that we don't have to be a few feet apart anymore!

If you stumble

I got to film Anna for her last cut of one of her dances for her senior project at Magnuson Park tonight (that will be shown on Saturday at the Rite of Spring! Y'ALL ARE IN FOR SUCH A TREAT!). While we had filmed it at the Arboretum a couple of weeks ago, her space was more limited there with lots of people, so we filmed it at a beautiful spot she picked out on Kite Hill at Magnuson for another take. The clouds, rain, and wind were perfect for this dance (and also gave us the place to ourselves), and she danced it about 5-6 times before getting the one she wanted. During one of the run throughs, she slipped on the wet grass and fell, and her laughing at herself was the absolute best.

Belated B'day Celebration

It has been such fun to gather for a belated 50th celebration for Jason with Dan, Tracey, Bill & Elizabeth. (We all gathered 10 years ago for a backpack trip in the Mt. Baker area for Jason's 40th so it was such fun to get the band back together.)

a little windy today!!

Bring on the S'mores

These four gathered last weekend for s'mores around the fire, and it made my heart so happy.

Party Hats

Such fun to have an excuse to pull out some party hats recently to celebrate a few friends' birthdays.
birthday trail run on Sunday to celebrate Elizabeth with Lila and Maegan.

I offered to get Elizabeth a "birthday runner" tank top, but she didn't need another top so I wore mine and taped an arrow to it for our Sunday morning run :)

He Makes it Look Easy

These pictures are screenshots that I took from this video below of Taylor sailing down a hill at Galbraith in Bellingham when Jason and Taylor went for Taylor's birthday. The thing about this is that this makes me want to wet my pants, but he makes it look so easy.

Rite of Spring Sneak Peek

Anna has choreographed two dances to two different songs for a senior project. This was not required but done all on her own, and it was so rewarding for her.  She was able to go to the studio on Wednesdays for the last few months, and she finished last week so that we could film.  This is absolutely some of the silver lining of this pandemic, as she never would have had time for this with a "normal" senior year.

We did the first run through at UW and at the Arboretum, and we will film one more time this week for her to put the videos together with the music. (And the fun thing is that the director of the studio is going to show these as part of Rite of Spring for the final show this year!! This was not part of the original plan, but another senior had to do a senior project for school and used dance for it, so they agreed to have both of them featured in the final show.)  Here are some sneak peeks to whet your appetite to see her dancing on June 12th for the show!
