A father's prayer on his daughter's first day of life:
Lord, can we
possibly be ready for this? We have strained and peered into the future,
our hopes and anxieties a lit match, casting little light into the dark
unknown.
Now, as we turn our faces from the brilliant blaze of this babe, we are humbled by Your goodness and ashamed of the poverty of our imagination. We have just met you, but we have known you forever. May you know His goodness and mercy all the days of your life.
