last day in DC (we think!)

We are at the DC airport now waiting for our flight to Chicago, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will make it as it has now been delayed multiple times.

With over 2000 flights canceled or delayed over the weekend in Chicago, we will just have to wait and see once we get there if we can make it to Seattle tonight (or if the airport will offer some nice chairs to rest our heads so we can catch something in the morning.)

Anyway, we are grateful for the sunshine pouring into the airport right now and for the sunshine that we enjoyed in our morning here in DC....

morning glory at the National Cathedral

a glimpse of the Darth Vadar gargoyle at the Cathedral

spotting a tiny glimpse of Darth...

beautiful ironwork on the gates outside the doors of the cathedral

a stop by the National Zoo before we headed to the airport

homework help in the airport..

(with our multiple delays, we were able to trek across the airport to see Janie and Abba off who were supposed to leave much later than we were (but we ended up being able to be their going away party)).

what to do when you are delayed multiple times at the airport:
1) station one person at the top of the DOWN escalator
2) make sure that no one is coming
3) give Anna the thumps up so she can run UP the DOWN escalator
4) give her a high 5 as she comes up...
