March Twenty-Fifteen


Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. When Anne and I go out for a walk
We hold each other’s hands and talk
Of all the things we mean to do
When Anne and I are 42
And when we’ve thought about a thing

Marriage is a path that teaches us to love ourselves and love someone else better … especially when it is most difficult to do.  When we extend grace to ourselves and to our partner, we seek to understand instead of condemn and we learn to love. God’s shaping of our character is made manifest in this open hearted, courageous, vulnerable daily practice of love.

I arise today with spring in my eyes:
