June Twenty-Twenty-Two

I recently listened to Kelly Corrigan interview Father Greg Boyle on her PBS show called “Tell Me More”. He runs Homeboy Industries in LA doing rehabilitation and re-entry for gang members. It is an absolutely beautiful conversation. Father Boyle spoke about their framework for understanding trauma. He said, “If it’s true that the traumatized are more likely to cause trauma, then it’s equally true—it has to be—that a cherished person is going to be able to find their way to the joy there is in cherishing themselves and others.” He describes it as “dosing”—the more doses of being cherished, the more likely a person will be to cherish themselves and others.

Below are snapshots of some good doses of love from the last month... Here’s to us all giving out lots of doses of love to those we come in contact with in the coming days.

Belated Celebration

We had our friends Dereck and Rachael over for dinner on Friday night for a very belated birthday celebration. Dereck turned 40 on May 6th, and Rachael turned 30 on April 25th. Around the time of their milestone birthdays, I reached out and we tried to get a date on the calendar to get together. A few dates got changed for one reason or another, and by the time we rallied this past week, it turned into a fun surprise belated birthday theme to keep the celebration going.

Marten Lake Adventure

What a gorgeous day today with Anna exploring the trails near the Middle Fork and finding our way to Marten Lake!

The route first goes along a flat trail along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River and then is quite steep and hard to follow, but we made our way slowly but surely and got to our destination...
