fluency

I listened to a sermon that Laurie Brenner preached the other week at UPC and she exhorted us to build our fluency in the gospel.  She focused on 1 Thessalonians 1:4 and said that this is one sentence that we need to know as we build this fluency: "For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you." Are we fluent in this message? Does everything we say or do come from this foundational truth that we are chosen and loved? And do we treat others around us as chosen and loved as well? Such good words to sit with in this season parenting middle schoolers and in our family life...
