Cambria Wows

At the end of each day when we got to go to the Galapagos in 2019, we all shared our "wows" at the end of each day to remember the many gifts we got to see and experience together. Last night at our final meal around the table, I asked everyone to share their "wows" from our week together, and this is the list we came up with.

  • Wine tasting – meeting Gino at Fratelli Perata
  • Easy to be with one another, fun community, compassionate and kind
  • Seeing wildlife, good talks, meals out, beach time, hikes
  • Early morning take-off, the haziness of little sleep on Sunday morning, Kelly saying “Let’s pray” in the airport—making this week into something new
  • Emotional and logistical pivot, hike in the marine layer, driving Emily and Elizabeth to Cal Poly in the cloudy mist, the hike in Morro Bay
  • Lack of expectation for the week—but being surprised by all that unfolded even our crazy Airbnb
  • Delicious (and resourceful) meals around the table
  • Delirious laughter and also depth (prayer for Dave to honor his birthday with Mark and Gayll)
  • Meaningful time- “You make me more me”
  • Loved watching Dave & Tamara watch Eva play volleyball on ESPN+ on Friday and watching Bill & Elizabeth see Liam at USF on Sunday.
  • The whole week with this chosen family, Acts 2 living, a sense of belonging
Goodbye Cayucos beach

Goodbye Cambria house

Goodbye funky Airbnb bathroom with the starry night sky on the ceiling

Goodbye Cambria
