Reflections from a Lectio reading of Mark 6 shared with the students
this morning for our morning devotion:
The story of the loaves
and fishes is one
we have all heard a
million times.
The danger of stories
like these is
they can go in one ear
and out the other.
But what if we read it
as if we have never
heard it before?
It’s a wild story-
one where God’s
abundance and
generosity
are on display.
God shows us
He is able to do impossible
things.
God shows us
that He asks the
disciples to use what they had
and that He multiplied
it.
And they ate until they
could eat no more.
It was not just enough-
but it was more than
enough.
Through this story,
we can build a little
more trust,
remember that God works
best
with impossible
situations,
and let go of fear and
worry.
Though this story,
we can be satisfied.

a delightful visit with Joel and Mithali (and parents Daniel and Mary)
being treated to some coconut water

blasts from the past below of this family:

Pictured above are Sindhu (top left), her brother Timothy (front left), her cousin Satya Vardhan and her amazing mother (holding another cousin) whom I nicknamed Wonder Woman after hearing her story and how she holds so much together for her family. She has a contagious joy about her despite a very tough journey she has been on. She was married off at age 17 to an older man, and then he left her with her two children for alcohol. She now works two shifts each day in a restaurant to support these children. This is indeed holy ground to get to bear witness to the stories of people here.
