Let Freedom Ring!

Below was our invitation to friends to join us for our MLK Day celebration. We are so thankful that no umbrellas were needed but that we had the sun shining down on us for our small gathering honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today.

TIME: 3:00 p.m.
on MONDAY, MLK DAY, JANUARY 20th, 2014

WHERE:

Martin Luther King JR Memorial

Address: 2200 Martin Luther King Jr. way South, 98144

WHAT TO BRING: crayons and paper for your crayon rubbings
and warm clothes to stay warm (or an umbrella if needed!)

even Poppy came with us to celebrate the day

Arie made Poppy a daisy chain for the occasion...
(doesn't the bunny look thrilled?!)

Thanks to the tradition that started in TN when we went to Lookout Mountain with Kristen Odmark, Leslie Mitchell and friends, we have continued our own MLK tradition here in Seattle. This is the second year we have come to the MLK Memorial here in Seattle for our tribute to Dr. King.  Giving thanks that our friends Evan and Arie joined us this year!

We did some crayon rubbings of some of the awesome quotes memorialized there and read parts of his speech shouting out "Let Freedom Ring" from Seattle. (I hope that our shouts were heard all the way on Lookout Mountain today for our friends who gathered there!)

FREE AT LAST!!

We also brought our unicycles for a partner ride around the memorial...
(and I think Dr. King would have smiled upon us!)

my sweet and patient daughter who holds me up when I am wobbly!

giving thanks for these wonderful folks to celebrate with today--
a small but mighty bunch indeed!
