The 44th Annual PCC Natural Markets Seafair Milk Carton Derby took place yesterday on Saturday, July 12. Nearly 100 colorful milk carton boats of all shapes and design competed on the waters of Green Lake for prizes and bragging rights. The Derby is a full day of "competition" as children, adults, families and businesses build milk carton watercraft for show and racing.
Our claim to fame was that Bill, Liam, Micah and their cousins entered the race, and we got to go cheer them on. Their disco (or "discow") theme was quite a hit and they came in 2nd in their heat. It was hilarious seeing Bill swimming in his cow costume helping to push his boat to a strong finish.
