Our first field trip of the summer today was
heading out to the Medical Teams International Real Life exhibit in Redmond.
As I am running in the Seattle marathon tomorrow and have been feeling sick this week,
this was the best medicine for me the day before the race.
It was SO powerful and it gave us all a healthy dose of perspective.
their website says the following:
"Powerful. Intense. Eye-opening. REAL.
This experience will change your LIFE.
The REAL. LIFE. Exhibit is a walk-through, multi-sensory exhibit that allows people to experience
what REAL. LIFE. is like for children affected by disaster, conflict and poverty.
what REAL. LIFE. is like for children affected by disaster, conflict and poverty.
Visitors describe the experience: “Eye-opening.” “I will never be the same.” “Inspiring.” “I must do something.” “I can make a difference.”
About the Redmond Exhibit
Visitors step into places where Medical Teams International's volunteers serve with our local in-country partners to help those affected by conflict, disaster and extreme poverty.
REAL. LIFE. Exhibit visitors experience not only the real need but also the REAL. HOPE. that Medical Teams International provides. They see “before” and “after” scenes of places transformed by the volunteers of Medical Teams International. They visit a marketplace where they can choose how they can—and will—make a difference.
This one was overwhelming for me to read with Anna standing right there with me
as this little girl pictured is also eleven....
This exhibit opened our eyes to the horror and the devastation so many have gone through in this world and yet it also pointed to the hope that has been brought to many of these places as well.
giving thanks for this incredible experience
and for the PERSPECTIVE this brings...
